Chanco Lodge 483 Emblems
Chanco Lodge 483 was chartered under Old Dominion Area Council of Suffolk, VA, on September 25, 1952. The Lodge was named after the Indian brave who in 1662 saved the Jamestown colonists from a bloody massacre by warning them of an impending Indian surprise attack. On January 1, 1996 Chanco Lodge 483 merged with Kecoughtan Lodge 463 to form Wahunsenakah Lodge 333, chartered under Colonial Virginia Council of Newport News, VA. Colonial Virginia Council was formed in 1992 by the merger of Peninsula and Old Dominion Area Councils, the former parent councils of 463 and 483.
The History of Chanco Lodge 483 (3.8 MB PDF) was published in 1972 on the occasion of their 20th anniversary. DeWitt Holland, longtime Chanco Lodge member and designer of many of their patches, provided the Chanco Lodge Issues 1952-1995 emblem reference to include on this site.
